Sri Lanka, Sept. 30 -- Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today ordered the release on bail of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to the Airbus deal.

The Magistrate ordered Rajapaksa to be released on a cash bail of Rs. 500,000 and two sureties of Rs. 100 million each.

The Magistrate further ordered the sureties to submit certificates issued by their respective Grama Niladharis. He also imposed a travel ban on the suspect.

The Magistrate warned that Rajapaksa's bail would be cancelled if he attempted to influence or intimidate any witnesses.

The case will be taken up again on October 14.
