Sri Lanka, May 12 -- Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has expressed concern over reports that journalists and social activists visiting Delmar Estate in Ragala were allegedly threatened and intimidated.
"Such actions are deeply concerning and entirely unacceptable. No one has the right to silence the media or prevent the Malaiyaha community from voicing their grievances," he said in a statement shared via social media.
He said that the plantation sector remains a vital part of Sri Lanka's economy and said estate workers in the Malaiyaha community deserve dignity, protection, and meaningful solutions to long-standing issues.
