Sri Lanka, Sept. 19 -- Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has extended his heartfelt condolences to Sri Lanka's Dunith Wellalage following the death of his father, Suranga Wellalage.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Nabi wrote: 'Heartfelt condolences to Dunith Wellalage and his family on the loss of his beloved father. Stay strong, brother."

Suranga Wellalage reportedly passed away in Colombo due to a cardiac arrest.

Dunith Wellalage took the field for Sri Lanka in their crucial Asia Cup match against Afghanistan on the same day in Dubai.

In a dramatic moment during the game, Mohammad Nabi scored 31 runs in the final over bowled by Wellalage, including five consecutive sixes in the first five balls.
