India, May 23 -- A considerable amount of rainfall has been recorded in the catchment areas of the Kalu Ganga basin as of now, the Irrigation Department said.

Based on the current rainfall situation and rising river water levels observed at hydrological stations along the Kalu Ganga, there is a possibility of a minor flood situation developing in low-lying areas of the Kalu Ganga valley.

The Department said the residents in Ingiriya, Horana, Dodangoda, Millaniya, Kalutara, Bulathsinhala, Madurawala and Palindanuwara District Secretariat Divisions have been advised to remain alert due to the potential risk.
