Sri Lanka, Jan. 2 -- M.S.L.R.P. Marasinghe has been appointed as the Director General of the Department of Wildlife Conservation with effect from January 1.

The appointment was made by Minister of Environment Dr. Dhammika Patabedee.

Marasinghe joined the Department of Wildlife Conservation in September 1998 as an Assistant Director of Scientific Services and has since served in several senior positions, including Deputy Director, Director (Operations) and Additional Director (Technology).

He is a graduate in Agriculture from the
