Sri Lanka, March 5 -- The Sri Lankan government is working towards maintaining peace within the Indian Ocean, Chief Government Whip Nalinda Jayatissa told Parliament today.

Responding to questions raised by the Opposition, Dr. Jayatissa said the government is working towards ensuring the minimisation of loss of lives.

"There are many things happening within the Indian Ocean than you think," he told the Opposition.
