Sri Lanka, Oct. 13 -- A 56-year-old man was killed following an explosion in a toilet pit at his residence in Pilana, Nagashandiya, within the Habaraduwa Police Division.

According to the Police, the incident occurred last evening (12) when the victim attempted to extract gas from the pit by adding carbide.

The pit exploded during the process, inflicting severe injuries on him.

He was rushed to the Galle National Hospital by residents but was pronounced dead upon admission.

The deceased was identified as a resident of Pilana, Wanchawala.

Habaraduwa Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
