Sri Lanka, Aug. 4 -- Claiming that the Mahanayake Theras had received wrong information regarding the extension of the retirement age of judges, Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara said yesterday that they briefed the Mahanayake Theras about the true purpose of the move.

The Minister told reporters after meeting the Mahanayake Theras in Kandy yesterday that they visited the Mahanayake Theras and briefed them about various concerns raised in society about the government's policy decision to extend the retirement age of judges.

He said they explained the government's true purpose of the proposal and what led to such a move, adding that the Mahanayake Theras understood the situation.
