Sri Lanka, Oct. 17 -- The price of gold in Sri Lanka has risen sharply, following increases in the global market.
For the first time in history, the price of a pound of 22-carat gold has reached Rs. 379,200 today (17). Similarly, the price of a pound of 24-carat gold has climbed to Rs. 410,000.
Traders attribute the surge to ongoing fluctuations in international gold markets, which have pushed local prices to unprecedented levels.
