SriLanka, April 12 -- Authorities have launched a special operation to take legal action against buses engaged in unauthorized passenger transportation around the country.

The initiative is being carried out under the direction of the National Transport Commission (NTC), with support from the police and relevant transport authorities.

Officials said that buses operating without valid permits, deviating from approved routes, or charging unregulated fares will be subject to strict legal measures.

According to transport officials, this aims to ensure passenger safety, maintain fair competition within the public transport sector, and uphold existing transport regulations.
