Leave the iconic tusker Kavantissa alone!
Sri Lanka, Aug. 17 -- At the rate elephants are being killed in areas such as the North Central Province, it is high time that iconic tuskers are provided some kind of protection. Kavantissa is an iconic tusker roaming around the Galgamuwa area. He has been leading the herd of elephants who have been vulnerable to railway accidents along the Omanthai-Anuradhapura railway line. This is why a wildlife underpass is now being built. But conservationists have been having mixed reactions towards this development. Two individuals, Bandara and Kumara have been stopping the traffic to ensure that the herd of elephants safely cross the road. But recently, several individuals posing as wildlife photographers have been harassing this iconic tusker. ...
