Sri Lanka, Feb. 2 -- Lanka Sugar Company (Private) Limited has dismissed recent social media reports regarding its Nugegoda retail outlet, calling the claims false and misleading.

In an official statement, the company said the temporary closure of the store was due solely to the illness of a sales employee on Saturday, January 31. The outlet remained closed on Sunday, February 1, in observance of Poya Day, in line with normal procedure.

The company emphasized that misleading interpretations of these routine closures circulated on social media, creating unnecessary confusion among the public. The Nugegoda outlet is now fully operational.
