Sri Lanka, Sept. 21 -- Karandeniya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Maheel Munasinghe has passed away due to a sudden illness.
It is reported that he fell ill while exercising this morning (21) and was admitted to the Karandeniya Boralanda Hospital.
Maheel Munasinghe, who contested the last local government elections representing the National People's Power (NPP), was elected as the Chairman of the Karandeniya Pradeshiya Sabha.
He was 47 years old at the time of his death, which is suspected to have been caused by a heart attack.
A post-mortem examination on the body is scheduled to be conducted at the Elpitiya Base Hospital.
