Sri Lanka, Aug. 23 -- Traffic movement in Kandy is expected to be disrupted this evening (23) as the first Randoli Perahera of the historic Kandy Esala Perahera takes to the streets at 6.44 p.m.

Police have introduced a special traffic plan covering several key roads along the procession route.

The Perahera will proceed through Dalada Veediya, Temple Street, Deva Veediya, Colombo Street, Kotugodella Veediya, Cross Street, D.S. Senanayake Veediya and Raja Veediya before returning to the Sri Dalada Maligawa premises.

Motorists travelling through the city during the procession have been advised to use alternative routes and follow instructions issued by police officers deployed in the area.
