Joint Opposition raises alarm over proposed Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill
Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- The Joint Opposition raised alarms over the proposed Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill where it stated bail provisions threaten the Fundamental Rights and will worsen the deadly prison overcrowding.
The statement signed by one time minister Prof. G. L. Peiris stated the following,: The Joint Opposition issues this statement to express profound concern and to raise public alarm over the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill gazetted by the Government, particularly Clause 17 amending section 149 of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 9 of 2023.
