Sri Lanka, May 2 -- Iranian Ambassador Alireza Delkhosh brought together the memory of the Minab school tragedy with the lives of orphaned children in Sri Lanka, turning a simple gathering at the Fathima Orphanage into a moment of shared sorrow, empathy and solidarity.
Civilians, particularly children, are protected and inviolable under armed conflict, describing this as a peremptory norm (jus cogens) of international humanitarian law, he said.
He said that the U.S. missiles deliberately targeted not only the Minab girls' school on February 28, 2026 but also "the very heart of humanitarian law," resulting in the martyrdom of 168 "little angels."
