Sri Lanka, April 30 -- A complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) seeking an inquiry into whether Secretary to the Treasury Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma holds dual citizenship.

The complaint was filed by social activist Achala Divaka, who alleged that Dr. Suriyapperuma possesses Australian citizenship in addition to his Sri Lankan passport.

Dr. Suriyapperuma has come under scrutiny in connection with the recent cyber theft of USD 2.5 million from the General Treasury.

The CID is yet to comment on the complaint.
