Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- Twenty-eight inmates who sustained injuries during the unrest at the Pallansena Prison have been transferred to the Welikada Prison Hospital for medical treatment, prison authorities said.

The disturbance broke out at the prison on Friday (07), following which security forces were deployed to bring the situation under control.

The Police, the Police Special Task Force (STF), the Riot Control Unit and the Sri Lanka Air Force were called in to assist prison officials in containing the situation.
