Sri Lanka, Sept. 23 -- Heavy rain experienced in the central hills persisted yesterday causing fear of landslides and earth slips in several areas.

Meanwhile, Maussakele and Castlereagh reservoirs were fast rising and reaching to spill over level. Engineers in Charge of the hydro power reservoirs said the water level in Maussakele reservoir stood six feet below the spill level and that of Castlereagh reservoir four feet below by last morning. They pointed out that the catchments are receiving high rainfall.

They said Laxapana, Polpitiya, Wimalasurendra, Canyon, Broadland hydropower complexes are fed by the two reservoirs.
