SriLanka, July 27 -- The owner of a private tuition centre in Horana has been arrested for allegedly possessing the narcotic drug known as "Ice" (crystal methamphetamine), police said.

The suspect, a 44-year-old resident of the Narthanagala area in Horana, was taken into custody during a police raid at his residence.

Police said they recovered 15g 250mg of crystal methamphetamine from the suspect's possession. Officers also seized a mobile phone, a SIM card believed to have been used for drug trafficking activities, and an electronic weighing scale.

According to investigators, the suspect attempted to flee when police arrived at his residence but was apprehended after a brief pursuit.
