Sri Lanka, Oct. 3 -- The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) today called for broad political reforms and thereby urged the government to hold the Provincial Council elections under the proportional representation system and to abolish the Executive Presidency.
SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara who urged the government to implement reforms said the Provincial Council elections should be held under the proportional representation system.
"A legislation to hold Provincial Council elections under the proportional representation could be approved by a simple majority in Parliament and therefore it is possible to hold the elections soon," Madduma Bandara said.
