SriLanka, Aug. 29 -- The Meteorology Department has issued a warning about high waves and possible seawater inundation in nearshorareas stretching from Beruwala to Matara via Galle.
According to the Department, wave heights in the sea areas off the coast from Colombo to Pottuvil, including Galle, Matara and Hambantota, could rise to between 2.0 and 3.0 metres.
Naval and fishing communities engaged in activities in the affected sea areas, as well as residents living along the specified coastal regions, have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
