Srilanka, Oct. 3 -- The invaluable service rendered by our elders to society in the past was highly admired by Help-Age Sri Lanka (HASL) at a recent seminar conducted at Hillwood College, Kandy.

The objective of conducting the seminar was to create awareness among school children on the value of their parents, grandparents and also other elderly citizens. The programme was conducted by HASL Youth Education Head G.C. Mendis at the college auditorium, and over 900 students from Grade six to thirteen classes attended.

G.C. Mendis emphasised the importance of treating all elders alike with respect and compassion considering that elderly citizens are valuable assets in a society.
