Sri Lanka, Sept. 7 -- Sri Lanka needs to move away from a healthcare system dominated by bureaucracy, workshops and policy documents and focus more strongly on practical results for the public, health expert Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa has said.

He said successive governments had introduced numerous health-related projects, policies and programmes, but many had failed to produce the expected results at the grassroots level.

Dr. Sanjeewa said the country's health system had been largely stagnant for around three decades while other countries had made significant advances through modern technology and innovative approaches.
