Sri Lanka, July 14 -- Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dr. Harsha de Silva has urged the Urban Development Authority (UDA) and Colombo Mayor Vraie Cally Balthazaar to immediately repair the walking path at Independence Square, warning that its deteriorating condition poses a safety risk, particularly to elderly walkers.

In a post on X, Dr. de Silva said the walking path, built during former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's tenure as Secretary to the Ministry of Defence around 15 years ago, has become a popular destination for morning walkers.

He said the pathway, once known for being peaceful, refreshing and well-maintained, is now in its worst condition.
