Colombo, Dec. 30 -- The Cabinet Ministers has approved the procurement of essential medicines and other medical supplies from the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) and local manufacturers for the year 2026.

Approval was initially granted at the Cabinet meeting held on July 21, 2025, to call for expressions of interest and requests for proposals to purchase medicines and medical supplies from local manufacturers. In response, 48 institutions submitted their applications.
