Govt will have to hold referendum or PC polls to survive: SJB
Sri Lanka, Aug. 17 -- The government will have to hold some kind of election if to survive in a situation where its popularity is on the decline, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman said today.
"The government will have to hold either a referendum to get the people's approval for the 22nd amendment or the Provincial Council elections which are pending. It is not possible to hold a general election or a Presidential poll," the MP told the media.
He was referring to the Verite Research report which claimed the government's popularity has declined.
