Sri Lanka, Sept. 30 -- The Government has no intention of holding a referendum on Clause 17 of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill, which the Supreme Court has determined requires approval by the people, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said yesterday.

He said the Government would seek to pass the remaining provisions of the Bill with the required two-thirds majority in Parliament, in accordance with the Supreme Court determination.

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet decision briefing, Jayatissa said the debate on the Bill would be held in Parliament on October 8.
