Sri Lanka, Dec. 31 -- The government has appointed a Presidential Commission to investigate alleged corruption and irregularities at the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), signaling a strong move to enhance accountability in local governance.
The Commission will be chaired by former High Court Judge Piyasena Ranasinghe, with Accountant E. R. M. S. H. Ekanayake and former Senior Superintendent of Police D. S. Wickramasinghe serving as members.
The appointment was officially announced through a gazette notification signed by the Secretary to the President. Authorities say the Commission is expected to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a detailed report on its findings.
