SriLanka, Sept. 11 -- Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrived at the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) this morning (11) to record a statement in connection with the ongoing investigation into the controversial MiG aircraft procurement deal.

Rajapaksa's appearance comes a day after former Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Roshan Goonetileke appeared before the FCID and provided a statement regarding the same transaction.

The investigation focuses on alleged financial irregularities and the misappropriation of state funds linked to the purchase and overhaul of MiG-27 fighter aircraft for the Sri Lanka Air Force in 2006.
