Sri Lanka, Dec. 15 -- The annual budget of the Galle Municipal Council, which is controlled by the National People's Power (NPP), was defeated by a majority vote today (15).
The vote took place at a council meeting held this morning under the chairmanship of Mayor Sunil Gamage.
The 36-member council recorded 17 votes in favour of the budget and 19 votes against it, resulting in the budget being defeated by a two-vote majority.
