Sri Lanka, March 23 -- A Fundamental Rights petition challenging the legality of the arrest and detention of former Director of the State Intelligence Service, Suresh Sallay, in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks, was fixed for support by Supreme Court.
A retired Sri Lanka Air Force officer Shantha Jayathilake filed the petition challenging the legality of Sallay's arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
Although the petitioner sought an earlier date to support the application, a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, Justice Janak De Silva, and Justice Sampath Wijeratne, fixed the petition for support on September 25.
