Colombo, Sept. 20 -- Former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian for the Batticaloa District, Thanmanpillai Kanagasabai, passed away yesterday (19) at the age of 86.

Kanagasabai, a retired government official and resident of Kaluthavalai, Batticaloa, entered Parliament in 2004 after contesting the General Election under the TNA banner, where he secured the highest number of preferential votes in the district.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
