Sri Lanka, Aug. 23 -- The medical condition of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was admitted to the prison hospital last night (22) following a remand order, is reported to have remained unstable.

A prison official said Wickremesinghe was first brought to the Magazine Prison, where doctors who examined him recommended a transfer to the Welikada Prison Hospital after his blood pressure and sugar levels were found to be elevated.

However, it was reported that his blood pressure further increased by this afternoon.

Meanwhile, several politicians, including former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, visited the Welikada Prison Hospital this morning (23) to meet the former President.
