b Sri Lanka, Feb. 24 -- Former Police Inspector Jagath Nishantha, wanted in connection with a shooting near a prominent hotel in Weligama on December 31, 2023, has been arrested.

Following the incident, in which a police officer lost their life, Nishantha had reportedly been overseas. Police said he was taken into custody yesterday (23 February) upon his return to Sri Lanka.
