Sri Lanka, Aug. 29 -- Former Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa was today ordered to be further remanded till September 12 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama after being arrested on charges of corruption and conspiracy.

The arrest was made in connection with allegations that he had used his official position to unlawfully secure compensation for an unauthorised property that was damaged during the 2022 public uprising. The compensation claim, which had initially been rejected, concerned property not legally entitled to such payment.
