Sri Lanka, July 31 -- The Colombo Trial-at-Bar today sentenced former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara to death after finding him guilty on several charges, including criminal dereliction of duty for failing to take action to prevent the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, despite receiving prior intelligence warnings.

The judgment was delivered by a majority decision, with Judges Priyantha Liyanage and Tilakaratne Bandara finding former IGP Pujith Jayasundara guilty and sentencing him to death. However, Judge Viraj Weerasuriya dissented, acquitting the accused.
