Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- Retired Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Priyantha Jayakody, who was in remand custody over allegations of lodging a false complaint, has been granted bail by the Mahara Magistrate's Court.
Jayakody was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on July 28 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Ragama.
His arrest followed a complaint he had made to the police, alleging that an overseas-based organized criminal known as Kehelbaddara Padme had issued death threats against him.
