Fire breaks out at Embilipitiya garment factory; 22 employees hospitalized
Sri Lanka, June 3 -- At least 22 female employees were hospitalized this morning (03) following a fire that broke out at a garment factory in the Embilipitiya area. According to the police, the fire originated inside a warehouse of the textile factory located near the Sudupalama area along the Embilipitiya-Nonagama road.
The affected workers, who suffered burn injuries and inhaled toxic smoke during the incident, were rushed to the Embilipitiya District General Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Firefighting teams from the Sevanagala Fire Unit were deployed to the location and are currently working to bring the blaze under control. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and police are conducting further investig...
