Sri Lanka, Oct. 23 -- A fire broke out on the second floor of a three-storey tourist hotel in Wadduwa .
Police said that the fire was brought under control after several guests trapped inside were safely rescued. However, a senior hotel official sustained injuries during the rescue and was admitted to hospital for treatment.
Several passports and other personal belongings belonging to guests were destroyed in the fire.
Two ambulances, along with officers from the Wadduwa and Pinwatta Police and Special Task Force (STF), responded to the scene, while medical teams provided first aid to those affected by smoke inhalation.
