Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- The feels-like temperature has risen to concerning levels in several parts of the country amid prevailing dry weather conditions, the Department of Meteorology said.

Director of the Forecasting Division Meril Mendis said sufficient rainfall to ease the prevailing dry conditions is expected only around October.

He said the feels-like temperature has risen significantly in several areas, particularly in the Eastern Province and the districts of Monaragala and Polonnaruwa.

The Department advised people in affected areas to wear light clothing when spending time outdoors, take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water.
