Sri Lanka, March 24 -- The Cabinet Ministers has approved the appointment of an expert committee to prepare a national framework for developing the energy economy, in line with the Government's plans to achieve sustainable economic growth.
The Government has identified the energy economy as a priority sector, stressing the need to adopt innovative and forward-looking approaches to ensure long-term stability and growth in the national economy. However, authorities have observed a slowdown in investment in the sector, mainly due to weak integration between key economic sectors.
The importance of creating an integrated economic development framework to build a sustainable economy was highlighted by the President in the 2026 Budget.
