Sri Lanka, April 20 -- The resignation of Power and Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody is an attempt to cover up a serious breach of collective responsibility by the Cabinet, the Joint Opposition said.
"The coal power supply contract has been given to a company which was not registered at the time of award. Besides, inferior quality coal were found in a number of shipments. One cannot believe that all these decisions were made by the minister alone. Also, the procedures were amended to fulfill a certain objective" a statement from the Joint Opposition said.
