Sri Lanka, Aug. 30 -- The prevailing dry weather conditions across Sri Lanka are likely to change by the first week of September, the Department of Meteorology said.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Deputy Director Meryl Mendis stated that the sun will be directly over Sri Lanka from August 28 to September 07 due to its apparent southward relative motion.

He further explained that while many parts of the country have been experiencing unusually dry conditions, the forecast suggests temporary relief with scattered rainfall.

However, showers are expected in several areas during the beginning of next month.
