Sri Lanka, Sept. 22 -- Police have arrested the driver of a luxury car and two women following a police pursuit in Pannala town.

According to police, officers from the Giriulla Police fired shots after the vehicle allegedly failed to stop despite repeated signals to pull over.

Police said the vehicle continued driving, prompting officers to pursue it before stopping the car and several other vehicles in Pannala town.

The driver allegedly locked the doors and remained inside the vehicle after it was stopped. Police officers subsequently pointed a T-56 rifle at the driver and warned that they would open fire if he did not open the doors.
