Defence case concludes in Easter Sunday attacks trial; verdict set for September 22
Sri Lanka, Aug. 25 -- The defence case in the Easter Sunday terror attacks trial, in which 23,270 charges have been filed against 24 accused, including Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed Naufar alias Naufar Moulavi, concluded yesterday.
The case has been fixed for September 9 for written submissions, with the Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar scheduling the verdict for September 22.
The trial is being heard before a three-member High Court Trial-at-Bar comprising High Court Judges Navaratne Marasinghe, Sujeewa Nishshanka and Ramanathan Kannan.
The case relates to the series of suicide bombings carried out on Easter Sunday in 2019, targeting Christian churches and tourist hotels in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa.
