Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- The debate on the resolution to remove IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon from office in terms of Section 17 of the Removal of Officers (Procedure) Act, No. 5 of 2002, commenced in Parliament a short while ago.
The resolution was moved by Speaker Jagath Wickremeratna.
Parliament on 08 April, 2025 passed the Resolution No. P.29/2025 and it appeared in the Order Paper of Parliament dated 08.04.2025 and a Committee of Inquiry was appointed under Section 5(2) and Section 6(b) of the Removal of Officers (Procedure) Act, No. 5 of 2002, to inquire and report its findings in respect of the allegations in the said resolution.
The committee apparently found Tennakoon guilty of the charges.
