Sri Lanka, March 2 -- The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has ordered all fuel stations to stop dispensing fuel into bottles and cans with immediate effect until further notice.

CPC Chairman D.J. Rajakaruna announced that the decision follows intelligence reports indicating that racketeers have been purchasing fuel in containers and reselling it on the black market at exorbitant prices.

"Information has been received that unscrupulous elements are taking fuel in bottles and cans and selling it at higher prices. Therefore, we have instructed all fuel stations not to issue fuel for such containers until further notice,"Rajakaruna said.
