Court to consider intervention pleas in Suresh Sallay's writ case on July 17
Sri Lanka, July 10 -- The Court of Appeal today fixed July 17 to consider several intervention petitions filed by individuals and organisations, including prominent Buddhist monks, seeking permission to intervene in the writ application filed by Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay, former Director of the State Intelligence Service.
Sallay is challenging the legality of his arrest and detention in connection with the Easter Sunday bomb attacks.
The intervention petitions were filed by Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera, Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera, Ven. Dapane Sumanawansha Thera, Ven. Dimbulagala Rahulalankara Thera, Senior Consultant Dr. Sakunthala Senevirathna and the Global Sri Lankan Forum. They are seeking an order from the Court of Appeal...
