Colombo, Sept. 24 -- The Attorney General today informed the Court of Appeal that if the necessity arises to arrest former Parliamentarian Udaya Gammanpila over his alleged offensive remarks, the Court will be notified by way of a motion.

Deputy Solicitor General Sudarshana de Silva, appearing for the CID, made these remarks when a writ petition filed by Udaya Gammanpila was taken up before the Court of Appeal.

At a previous hearing, the CID informed the Court of Appeal that no decision had yet been taken to arrest Gammanpila in connection with the matter.
